Prom is meant to be a night for upperclassmen to remember. From the excitement of walk-in, to the crowning of the king and queen, every detail is about fun. Winfield High School prom, A Whimsical Evening, will take place on April 18th, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the WHS auxiliary gym.

Camile Richert, junior class sponsor, hopes this year’s prom will be one to remember.

“The class thats is planning prom is always trying to make it a night to remember,” Richert said. “We have a professional photographer that is going to be taking candids all night, and we have one that is going to give out a printed picture after you take it.”

If all goes as planned, prom attendees should be in awe from the moment they walk through the doors.

“If we can pull it off, the ceiling structure should surprise the guests, and it will be very cool,” Richert said.

An event as big as prom typically requires a small army to put it together. This year’s prom committee started with more than 20 students, but a small group of less than 10 has carried the load for this year’s event.

“We had 22 kids who were very interested in the beginning, and then once fundraising and the theme had been picked, it dwindled to 5-6, and after January, we had a constant group of 2-3,“ Richert said.

Even though the group is small, they have made up for it with hard work, determination, and grit.

“The small group of kids has put so much work in, and they are going to get so much feedback back. I hope it is positive,” Richert said.
